Justices of the peace for the afd County And did Acknowledge
himself to be Indebted unto his Lordship the right honourable
the Lord propry of Maryland in the sum of ten pounds current
money to be made and Leveyed on his body goods and chattels
Lands and Tenements for the Use of his said Lordship his
heirs and Successors With Condition to this recognizance
that if he the said Francis do make his personall Appeare.
before the Justices of Our next June Court to be held for the
County afd then and there to give in Evidence in behalf of
his Lordship against the afd John Cannady Then this
Recognizance to be Void Else to remain in full force in
Law                                      B. Hands
Kent County fst The Jurors for the right honourable the
Lord propry of that now is for the body of Kent County upon their
Oath do present that John Cannady late of said County plantr.
on the seventh day of June Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty
& nine with force and Arms at the County afd in and upon
a Certain Samuel Barker in the peace of God and the said
Lord propry then and there being an Assault did make and him
the said Samuel Barker did Then & there beat wound and
evilly treat and other harms to him then and there did to the
great damage of him the said Samuel Barker and against
the peace &c                                 J George
On the back of the afd Indictmt. was Indorsed as fol. Vizt
                          Billa Vera Jams. Ringgold forem.
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court
house in the Town of Chester in said County on the third
tuesday of June being the Nineteenth day of said month in
the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & nine
cometh the afd Lord propry by Joshua George his Attorney
and prayeth that the afd John Cannady to the Indictmt.
afd may Answer                           And the afd John in his
proper person comes and defends the force and injury
when &c And saith that he cannot gainsay the Indictment
