fornication with a Certain Man to the Jurors unknown And the
Same person then and there did permitt to have Carnall Knowledge
of her body and then and there did permitt on her body a Bastard
child against the peace &c And against the form of the Act of
Assembly in Such case made & provided                  J George
On the Back of the afd Indictment was Indorsed as fol. Vizt
                          Billa Vera Chrisr. Hall foreman
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court house in
the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday of June
being the nineteenth day of said month in the year of Our Lord
seventeen hundred thirty and nine cometh the afd Lord propry by
Joshua George his Attorney and prayeth that the afd Sarah to the
Indictment afd may answer                           And the afd Sarah in
her proper person comes and defends the force & injury when &c
and saith that She cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd
against her brought nor can she say but that She is guilty of the
premisses afd above upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictmt.
it is Alledged and thereof Submitts to the Court &c
Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at
Kent County Court at the Court house in the Town of Chester
in said County on the third tuesday of June being the ninteenth
day of said month in the year of Our Lord Seventeen hundred
thirty nine that the afd Sarah pay the sum of One pound ten
Shillings current money of Maryland as a fine According to
Act of Assembly for Committing the fornication afd Also it
is Considered by the Justices at the time & place afd that the
same Sarah pay the sum of three hundred twenty & eight
pounds of tobacco Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd
to the Severall Officers of this Court &c
Ordered by this Court here that the fine above mentioned be
delivered the sherr. of Kent County
Thereupon Simon Wilmer Gentn. sher. of Kent County
being present here in Court Acknowledgeth the receipt
of the same
