to the Court here thereon Indorsed as fol. Vizt.
                          Cepi Corpus pr S Wilmer Sher.
Kent County fst The Jurors for the right honourable the Lord
propry that now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their Oath
do present that Mary Hall late of Kent County Spinster on the
first day of May Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred thirty & eight
at Kent County afd did Committ fornication with a Certain Man
to the Jurors afd unknown And the same pr then & there did to
have carnall knowledge of her body And then & there to begett
on her body a bastard child to the evill Example of all others
against the peace &c And against the form of the Act of
Assembly in such case made & provided &c       J George
On the Back of the afd Indictmt. was Indorsed as fol. Vizt
                          Billa Vera Chr Hall forem.
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court house
in the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday of June
being the nineteenth day of said month in the year of Our Lord seven:
:teen hundred thirty & nine cometh the afd Lord propry by Joshua
George his Attorney afd And prayeth that the afd Mary Hall
to the Indictment afd may Answer
And the afd Mary in her proper person comes & defends
the force & injury when &c And saith that she cannot gainsay
the Indictment afd so as afd against her brought nor can she
say but that she is guilty of the premisses afd above upon her
Imposed as by the Indictment afd it is Alledged And thereof
Submitts to the Court
Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at Kent
County Court at the Court house in the Town of Chester in said
County on the third tuesday of June being the ninteenth day of
said month in the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty &
nine that the afd Mary pay the sum of thirty shillings current
money of Maryland According to Act of Assembly as a fine
for Committing the fornication afd Also it is Considered
that the said Mary pay the sum of three hundred & three
pounds of tobacco Costs Accrueing on the prsses afd to
the Severall Officers of this Court &c
