on the third tuesday of June being the nineteenth day of said month in
the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & nine cometh the afd Lord
propry by his Attorney afd and prayeth that the afd Mary to the Indictmt.
afd may Answer                  And the afd Mary in her proper prSon
comes & defends the force & injury when &c And saith that she is in no sort
guilty of the premisses afd Above upon her Imposed as by the Indt.
afd it is alledged and thereof She putteth herself upon the Country
&c                  And he who followeth for the Lord propry in
like manner saith She is Guilty &c
Thereupon Command was given to the sher. of Kent County
that he Immediately cause to come here twelve &c by whom &c
who neither &c To recognize &c because as well &c of which said
precept the said sher. to wit Simon Wilmer Gent. now here at
this day to wit the nineteenth day of June in the year of Our Lord
seventeen hundred thirty & none makes return that he hath here ready
twelve &c as by his precept he was Commanded And now here
afterwards to wit the day & year last mentioned Come again the
afd Lord propry by his Attorney afd And the afd Mary in her proper
person And the Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled & called
likewise come to wit James Ringgold, Nathl. Ricketts, Henry
Trulock, Francis Barney, Bullmn. Medford, Samuell
Mansfeild, Michael Hackett, Richd. Peacock, James
Wright, Robert Mansfeild, James Thomas & Charles
Smith who being duely Elected tried & Sworn to Say the truth
in the premisses the afd Mary the prisoner Appearing
to the Verdict of the Jurors afd Upon their Oath do say
that the afd Mary Norris is guilty as She stands Indicted
& by James Ringgold their foreman all so Say &c
Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at
Kent County Court at the Court house in the Town of Chester
in said County on the third tuesday of June being the nine:
:teenth day of said month in the year of Our Lord seventeen
hundred thirty & nine come that the afd Mary Norris
Serve the term the Term of Seven Years as a punishmt
for the fornication afd According to Act of Assembly
