County afd Spinster the tenth day of Novemr. in the year of Our Lord
Christ Seventeen hundred thirty & eight at the parish afd in the County afd
and within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a
certain Person to the Jurors afd unknown and did permitt the same
unknown person then & there to have carnall knowledge of her body
& to begett then & there a Bastard child on the body of her the same
Mary to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the Evil Example
of all others in such case offending and against the peace of the
same Lord propry his good rule & Government and Contrary to
the form of the act of assembly in such case made and provided &ca.

On the back of the afd Indictment was Indorsed as fol. Vizt
                          Billa Vera Matthew Howard foremn
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court
house in the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday
of June being the nineteenth day of said month in the year of Our
Lord seventeen hundred thirty & nine Cometh the afd Lord propry
by his Attorney afd and prayeth that the afd Mary to the Indictmt.
afd may answer                           And the afd Mary in her
proper person comes and defends the force & injury when &c And
saith that she cannot gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd against
her brought nor can she say but that she And is guilty of the prsses
afd above Upon her Imposed as by the afd Indictmt. it is alledged
And thereof Submitts to the Court
Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at Kent
County Court at the Court house in the Town of Chester in said
County on the third tuesday of June being the nineteenth day of said
month in the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & nine
that the afd Mary pay the sum of thirty shill. current money of
Maryland as a fine for Committing the fornication afd According to
Act of Assembly &c Also it is Considered by the Justices afd at
the time & place afd that the said Mary pay the sum of four
hundred & nine pounds of tobacco costs Accrueing on the
premisses afd to the Severall Officers of this Court &c
