His Lordship	Command was given to the sher. of Kt
agt	County on the 22d. day of March in the
John Merry	24th year of his Lordships Domn. & in

the year of Our Lord God Seventeen hundred thirty and eight that
he should take John Merry late of Kent County Labourer if
he should be found in his Bailwick & him safe keep so that he
have his body before the Justices of our County Court Immediately
now held at the Court house in the Town of Chester in said County
to Answer Unto the right honourable the Lord prop^ry of and
Concerning an Indictment of fornication against him found
And that the said sher. have at the time & place afd the said
Writt &c And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court
house in the Town of Chester in said County on the Day and
year afd last mentioned Cometh Simon Wilmer Gent. Sher.
of Kent County & made return thereof to the Court here thereon
Indorsed as fol. Viz^t Cepi Corpus p^r S Wilmer sherr.
Kent County fs^t The Jurors for the right hon^rble the Lord
Prop^ry that now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their
Oath do present John Merry late of Kent County Labour^r.
on the first Day of December Anno Dom. seventeen hund^d.
and thirty Eight at Kent County afd did Committ fornication
with a Certain Sarah Turner and then and there had carnal
knowledge of her body and then and there did beget on the body
of her the said Sarah Turner a Bastard child against the
peace &c and against the form of the Act of Assembly in
such case made and provided                  J George
On the Back of the afd Indictment was Indorsed as fol.

And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court house
in the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday of
March being the twentyeth day of said month in the year of Our
Lord God One thousand seven hundred thirty & eight Cometh the
afd Lord prop^ry by Joshua George his Att^ry & prayeth that
the afd John Merry to the Indictment afd may Answer
And the afd Robert R John Merry in his proper person
comes and defends the force & injury when &c and saith that
he cannot Gainsay the Indictment afd so as afd ag[ainst]
