Peace and be of good behavour Then this Recognizance to be Void
Else to remain in full force in Law            J Williams Junr.
Kent County fst The Jurors for the right honrble the Lord Propry that
now is for the body of Kent County afd upon their Oath do present that
Bryan Hughs late of Kent County Planter on the first day of March
Anno Dom. Seventeen hundred and thirty eight with force & Arms at
the County afd in and upon a Certain Thomas Willis in the peace of
God & the said Lord propry then and there being an Assault did make &
him the said Thomas Willis did then and there beat wound and evilly
treat and other harms to him then & there did to the great damage of
him the said Thomas Willis and against the peace of the said Lord
Propry his good rule and Government &c       J George
On the Back of the afd Indictmt. was Indorsed as fol. Vizt
                          A True Bill Chrisr. Hall
And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court house
in the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday of March
being the twentyeth day of said month in the year of Our Lord
seventeen hundred thirty and eight Cometh the afd Lord propry
by his Attorney afd and prayeth that the afd Bryan Hughs
to the Indictment afd may Answer            And the afd Bryan in
his proper person comes and defends the force & injury when &c
and saith that he cannot gainsay the Indictmt. afd so as afd against
him brought nor can he say but that he is guilty of the premisses
afd Above upon Imposed as by the afd Indictmt. it is Alledged and
thereof Submits to the Court &c Therefore it is Considered by
the Justices here to wit at Kent County Court at the Court house in the
Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday of March being
the twentyeth day of said month in the year of Our Lord seventeen
hundred thirty & eight that the afd Bryan Hughs pay the sum
of twenty Shillings Current money of Maryland for Committing
the Offence afd Also it is Considered by the Justices at the time
and place afd last mentioned that the said Bryan pay the sum
of                                      pounds of tobacco Costs Accrue:
:ing on the premisses afd to the Severall Officers of this Court &c
Ordered by this Court here that the fine afd be Delivered the
sherr. of Kent County And Simon Wilmer Gent. sher. of Kent
County present here in Court Acknowledgeth the receipt of the
Same            And now here to wit at Kent County Court at the
Court house in the Town of Chester in said County on the third tuesday
of March being the twentyeth day of said month in the year afd
