And the afd Elisha in his proper person comes and defends the
force & injury when &c And saith that he cannot gainsay the afd
Indictment so as afd against him brought nor can he say but that
he is guilty of the premisses afd above upon him Imposed as by
the Indictmt. afd it is alledged & thereof Submits to the Court &c
Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here to wit at Kent Coty
Court at the Court house in the Town of Chester in said County on the
third tuesday of March being the twentyeth day of said month in
the year of Our Lord seventeen hundred thirty & Eight that the afd
Elisah Reed pay the sum of One pound ten shil. Currt. money
of Maryland as a fine for Committing the fornication afd According
to Act of Assembly in that case made & provided &c Also it is
Considered by the Justices at the time & place afd that the said
Elisha pay the sum of three hundred and nine            pounds
of tobacco Costs Accrueing on the premisses afd to the Officers of
this Court &c                  Ordered by this Court here that the fine
afd be Delivered the sher. of Kent County And Simon Wilmer Gent.
sher. of the afd County present here in Court Acknowledgeth the
receipt of the same                  Ordered by this Court here that the
afd Elisha Reed give Security for the Fees Accrueing on the prsses
afd to the Officers of this Court       Thereupon Elisha Reed
Henry Trulock & Benja. Green of Kent County Labourers and prSent
here in Court in their proper persons Acknowledges themselves
to be Indebted to his Lordship the right honourable the Lord propry
of Maryld. in the sum of five hundred pounds of tobacco each to be
made and Leveyed on their bodys goods & Chattles Lands & Tenemts
for the Use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successrs. With Condn.
to this recoge. that the afd Elisah Reed do pay the fees Accrueing
on the premisses afd to the Severall Officers of this Court Then
this recognize. to be Void Else to remain in full force & Virtue in Law
Ordered by this Court here that the afd Elisha give Security to
the County to keep harmless from the maintenance of the Child afd
Thereupon Elisha Reed Henry Trulock & Benja. Green
of Kent County Labourers and present here in Court in their
proper persons Acknowledgeth themselves Indebted to his
Lordship the right honourable the Lord Propry of Maryland in
the sum of five thousand pounds of tobo. each to be made and
Leveyed on their bodys goods & Chattles Lands & Tenements
for the Use of his said Lordship his heirs and Successors With
Condition to this recoge. that Elisha Reed do keep harmless
the County afd from the Maintenance of the Bastard Child
