The said bill was then returned to the Senate.
Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, proposed the following
order:
Whereas, John Wilmot, Adjutant General of the State of
Maryland, a good citizen and an efficient public officer, has
been removed by death from his labors; the two Houses of
the General Assembly deem it due to the State, that they
should testify their regret for the loss, and their appreciation
of his labors for his native State.
John Wilmot was born in the year 1778, in the city of
Annapolis. After attaining to manhood he removed to the
city of Baltimore, where he resided at the breaking out of the
last war between our country and England—as commander
of a company in 5th Regiment in Baltimore, he took part in
the engagement at Bladensburg and in the battle at North
Point,
