The Secretary of the Senate delivered' the following bills:
A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Comptroller to

settle the accounts of John Lawton, late collector of direct

tax in St. Mary's county.

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Comptroller to

settle the accounts of James G. Blackision of St. Mary's

county.

Which were severally read the first time and referred to
the committee on Ways and Means.

A bill entitled, an act to refund James Higgins certain
moneys paid by him for the use and benefit of the State,

Was read the first time and referred to the committee on
Claims; also

Returned a bill entitled, an act to authorise James H.
Thomas, a free negro, of St. Mary's county, to dispose of
his real and personal estate by last will and testament or
alienate the same by deed or other conveyance,

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;" also,

Returned the bill entitled, an act for the relief of the heirs
and personal representatives of Joshua M. Turner, late of
Baltimore city, deceased,

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;" also,

Returned the bill entitled, an act for the relief of Grace
Bewley,

Endorsed, "passed by yeas nays;" also,

Delivered the following bill:

A bill entitled an act to allow William O. Chappell, late
collector of Election District No: 4, of Montgomery county,
further time to complete his collections,

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;"
Which was read the first time, and referred to the Mont-
gomery county delegation.
