The said bill was then sent to the Senate.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills:
A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the President and Di-
rectors of the Chesapeake Fire Insurance Company of Balti-
more;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;" also,

A bill entitled, an act to empower the Fire inspector, com-
missioned by the Mayor of the city of Baltimore, under an
ordinance of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, to is-
sue summonses for the attendance of witnesses to testify be-
fore him as to the origin and cause of fire occurring in the
city of Baltimore, and in case of the refusal of witnesses to
attend, or after attendance, refusing to testify, to authorise
any justice of the peace of the State of Maryland, in and for
the city of Baltimore, or any one of the judges of any of the
courts for the city of Baltimore, upon application of the Fire
Inspector, to impose a fine upon such person so refusing, and
authorising said justices of the peace or judge to commit to
prison until fine and cost be paid;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;" also,
A bill entitled, an act to set apart the real estate of Balti-
more county, known as the almshouse property, for the pay-
ment of the public debt of said county and for dedicating the
same to the reduction of the direct taxes of said county;
