The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day, the House took up for consideration a bill entitled, an,
act entitled a supplement to an act passed January session,
1853, entitled, an act to regulate pilotage.

Said bill being upon its second reading,

Mr. Kilbourn proposed the following amendment:

Strike out the enacting clause;

Which was not assented to.

The question then being on the following amendment:

In section 1, line 2, after the word "vessels" insert, "of
two hundred tons burthen and over;"
Pending the consideration thereof,

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:                                                                       

By the Senate,

March 2, 1858.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message proposing to go into an
election of State Librarian to-morrow at 2 o'clock and concur
therein. We have nominated on the part of the Senate
Llewellyn Boyle, as a candidate for the said office. We have
appointed Messrs. Kimmel and Franklin a committee on the
part of the Senate, to act with the gentlemen appointed by
your honorable body to count the ballots and report the
result.

By Order,

C. Harwood, Secretary.

Which was read.

The hour having arrived, the House proceeded to ballot for
State Librarian.

The roll was called and it appeared that sixty-three mem-
bers had voted.

The ballot box was then sealed and delivered by the
Speaker into the hands of Messrs. Wickes and Goldsborough,
tellers on the part of the House, to join the gentlemen who
had been appointed on the part of the Senate.

The said tellers then proceeded to the Senate Chamber for
the purpose of counting the ballots;
