Favorably on a Senate bill entitled, an act to modify the
punishment of free negroes convicted of larceny and other
crimes in the State; also,

Favorably on a bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed
from Morris S. Mehersban and wife to John Plumley, Jr.,

Which was read the first time; also,

Favorably on a bill entitled, an act authorising the com-
promise of assaults and batteries, and supplementary to the
act of 1831, ch. 108.

Mr. Stirling, from the committee on Ways and Means, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to regulate the
issuing of licenses to ordinary keepers and traders,

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Stirling,

Said bill was ordered to be printed and was made the
special order of the day for to-morrow.

Mr. Alexander, from the committee on Judiciary, reported
unfavorably on a bill entitled an act to prohibit the taking of
irresponsible and insufficient bail,

Which was read the first time; also,

Favorably on a bill entitled, an act to make valid a deed
from Benjamin Chandler and wife to Richard S. Thomas,

Which was read the first time: also,

Favorably on a bill entitled an act for the benefit of Alfred
A. Duhamel, late sheriff of Queen Anne's county,

Which was read the first time; also

Favorably on a Senate bill entitled, an act to make valid
a deed from George Warner and wife to Samuel Arthur,

Which was read the first time; also,

Favorably on a bill entitled, a supplement to the act to
provide for carrying into effect the 22d section of the 4th
article of the constitution, passed January session, 1852,
chapter 68.

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stirling from the committee on Judiciary reported fa-
vorably on a bill entitled, an act for the dispatch of business
of the Superior Court and the Court of Common Pleas of Bal-
timore city.

Mr. Stirling from the committee on Ways and Means re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to exempt from
taxation Red Men's Hall of Baltimore city;
