The Speaker appointed the following gentlemen as a com-
mittee under the order of Mr. Kidd, to visit the Penitentiary,
Messrs. Kidd, Kennard, Grieves, Lynch, of Baltimore city,
and Duvall.

The Speaker appointed the following gentlemen as a joint
committee to visit the Penitentiary: Messrs. Lynch, of Balti-
more city, Dail and Duvall.

Mr. Thruston, from a Select committee, reported a bill en-
titled, An act to provide for the transcribing of one of the
record books, in the office of the Register of Wills for Alle-
gany county ;

Which was read the first time by special order ;
Three-fourths of the members concurring,
Was read the second and third times, and passed by yeas
and nays as follows :

make valid the election returns and ordinances of the corpor-
ation of Mechanicstown, in Frederick county;
