The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

The bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act entitled, an
act to incorporate the Maryland Institution for the Instruction
of the Blind, passed January session, 1853, chapter 203,
making valid certain deeds executed by said corporation;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act relating to Foreign Corporations
and their agencies;

Being upon its second reading,

The House considered the substitute offered by Mr. Stirling,
from the Committee on Ways and Means, as found upon
pages 389, 390, 391, and 392 of the House Journal.

Mr. Alexander proposed the following amendment:
In section 2, line 9, strike out "three," and insert "two."
Mr. Harrington proposed the following substitute:
" Pay five dollars for such license, and one dollar on all
policies issued from such agency ;"
Which was not assented to.

The question then recurring on the amendment, it was as-
sented to.

Mr. Goldsborough proposed the following amendment:

Section 9. Insert after word "act," 12th line, "as respect
the license aforesaid;"

Which was not assented to.

Mr. Stirling proposed the following amendment:
