favorably on the bill entitled, an act to allow a pension to
John D. Ehlers, of the Baltimore City Guards, injured dur-
ing the riots on the main stem of the Baltimore and Ohio
Railroad, in the month of May 1857, and appropriating a sum
money for the payment thereof;

Mr. Grieves, from the Committee on Colored Population,
reported favorably on the bill entitled, an act to allow Wil-
liam Stafford, of Caroline county, to bring into this State, a
slave for a term of years named therein ;
Mr. Walker, from a select committee, reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act to authorise the Commissioner of the
Land office to issue a patent to Robert Mays, of Baltimore
county, for certain land in said county;
Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Judiciary.

with proposed amendments, on the Senate bill entitled, an
act to prohibit the sale or gift of any intoxicating liquors in
Tangier District, being District No. 15, of Somerset county,
except in certain cases therein provided;
Mr. Alexander, from the committee on Judiciary, reported
unfavorably on the bill entitled, an act to carry into effect the
39th section of the 3d article of the Constitution, by exempt-
ing from execution a certain amount of property.
