FRIDAY, January 15th, 1858.

The House met.                                                            

Opened with prayer by Rev. Mr. Veitch,

Present at the call of the roll, the following members:

Messrs. Berry, Speaker, Morgan, Neale, Wickes, Megin-
nis, Tongue, Mackubin, Kilbourn, Griffiss, Magruder, Bur-
gess, Stonestreet, Walker, Allender, Ford, of Baltimore co.,
Lynch, of Baltimore co., Waller, Moore, Sudler, of Somer-
set, Tilghman, Dail, Richardson, Grieves, Ford, of Cecil,
Kidd, Belt, Wyville, Contee, Larrimore, Sudler, of Queen
Anne's, Landing, Spence, Hearn, Thomas, Bowlus, Root,
Koons, Hobbs, Hanway, Bacon, Baker, Todd, McGonigal,
Stirling, Rogers, McPherson, Smith, of Baltimore city, Ken-
nard, Lynch, of Baltimore city, Harrinton, Crowley, Forrest,
Alexander, Rohrer, Summers, Gray, Schnebly, Duvall,
Worthington, Thurston, Barnard, Mountz, McKinstry, Rein-
dollar, Day, Welling.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Hobbs, presented the petition of Jos. M. Palmer, ask-
ing compensation for services rendered the State ;

Which was referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Summers, presented a petition of sundry citizens of
Washington county, asking the formation of a new Election
District, in said county, out of Districts Nos. 3 and 4 ;

Which was referred to the Washington county delegation.

Mr. Magruder, presented the petition of one hundred and
twenty Tobacco planters, praying for the appointment of a
Chief Inspector of Tobacco in the city of Baltimore;

Which was referred to the committee on Corporations.

Mr. Todd, presented the petition of Ennatto Dickisson, of
Caroline county, for a law to convey certain real estate to his
children;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.
Mr. McGonigal offered the following order:

Ordered, That two committee Clerks be appointed by the
Speaker of this House.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Sudler, of Somerset co., offered the following order:
Ordered, That when this House adjourns to-day, it ad-
journs to meet on Monday, and on that day to meet at the
hour heretofore entered on the Journal.
