A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore city, to levy hereafter upon the assess-
able property within said city, a direct tax, not to exceed the
sum of eight hundred thousand dollars annually, with full
power, by ordinance, to provide for the Collection of the same;

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the trustees of Primary
School District, No. 69, of Frederick county, to sell the
school-house in said district;

Severally endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays."

Mr. Harrington offered the following order:

Ordered, That the House hereafter meet at 10 o'clock, A.
M., each day, except on Monday;

Mr. Mackubin moved to lay said order on the table,

Which was determined in the negative,

The question then recurring on the order;

It was adopted.

Mr. Grieves presented a petition from seventeen ladies of
Baltimore city, praying for Legislative aid to the Home of
the Friendless;

Which was referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Riddlemoser offered the following order :

Ordered, That the committee on Judiciary, to whom was
referred the bill to carry into effect the 39th section of the 3d
article of the Constitution, be instructed to report to this
House, on or before the 26th instant;

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Ford, of Cecil,

Leave was granted the committee on Judiciary, to intro-
duce a bill to empower the Commissioners of Charlestown, in
