The bill entitled, an act confirmatory of the title of the
General Insurance Company of Maryland to the Franklin
Turnpike road, and of the license to erect and fix gates across
the same and collect tolls thereupon, heretofore issued by the
Governor to the said General Insurance Company of Mary-
land, and granting powers in regard thereto,

Being on its second reading,

On motion of Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore county, said bill
was recommitted to the committee on Corporations.

The bill entitled, an act to lay off a primary school district
in Anne Arundel county, to be styled School District No. 52,
to authorise the election of trustees therefor and the erection
of a schoolhouse therein,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act for the relief of Elizabeth Rutledge
and her daughter,

Being upon its second reading,

Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county, proposed the following
amendments:

Add, "Section 2. And be it enacted, that the commissioners
of Baltimore county be and they are hereby authorised, if they
in their judgment think just and proper, to levy a tax on the
assessable property of Baltimore county for the relief of Gist
Vaughn, not exceeding the sum of forty dollars annually, as
long as he may require it, for his support, to be placed in the
hands of Pleasant Hunter, for his especial benefit."

Amend the title by adding to the end of the same, "and
Gist Vaughn, of Baltimore county;

Which were assented to, and

The bill as amended was read the second time and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act supplementary to the act of De-
cember session 1843, chapter 253, entitled, an act to incor-
porate a Literary Institution in Washington county, under
the name and style of the College of St. James ;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled a further supplement to the act entitled,
an act to Incorporate the Frederick Savings Institution, pass-
ed December session 1826, March 9, 1827, chapter 189, and
the several supplements thereto ;

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
