Mr. Contee, from the committee on Currency, reported
favorably, with amendment, the Senate bill entitled, an act
to amend an act entitled, an act to continue the corporate ex-
istence of the several banking institutions therein mentioned,
passed January session, 1853, chapter 241.
Mr. Crowley, from the committee on Roads and Highways,
reported favorably on the Senate bill entitled, an act author-
ising the County Commissioners of Baltimore county to open
an avenue adjacent to the eastern boundary of the city of Bal-
timore, from the intersection of O'Donnell and Third streets
of the Canton Company lands, northwardly with Third street
to Bank street, thence with Bank street, westwardly to First,
street, and thence northwardly to Monument street extended.
Mr. Dail, from the committee on Claims, reported favor-
ably on a bill entitled, an act to refund to Thomas E. Martin,
William Weedon and William V. Stinchcomb, a certain
sum of money illegally forfeited and paid by them into the
treasury; also,
Favorably on a bill entitled, an act appropriating a sum of
money to pay Thomas J. Wilson for legal services rendered
the State, at the instance and request of the Comptroller, in
the trial of the case of Schley vs. the Comptroller of the Trea-
sury, in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel county ;
Which were read the first time; also,
Favorably on the bill entitled, an act appropriating a sum
of money to pay William A. Spencer, Clerk of the Court of
Appeals of Maryland, and John Palmer, late Clerk of the
Circuit Court of Queen Anne's county, for fees due them by
the State;
Which was read the first time; also,
Favorably on the bill entitled, an act to pay John D. Toy
and Schley & Haller, for printing the reports of the commis-
sioners to revise, simplify and abridge the rules of practice
and pleadings ;
Which was read the first time; also,
Favorably on the bill entitled, an act to provide for the
compensation of James M. Schley for certain services per-
formed by him under the appointment of the Governor, in the
Court of Appeals;
Which was read the first time; also,
Favorably on the bill entitled, an act to refund to N. H.
Green, of Anne Arundel county, certain moneys improperly
paid by him into the treasury, as clerk of the Anne Arundel
county Circuit Court;
Which was read the first time; also,
