improvements on the Eastern Shore;

Mr. Clarke presented a petition from W. V. D. Dickinson
and eighty other citizens of Caroline county, asking an ap-
propriation to the Maryland and Delaware Railroad Company,
out of the fund heretofore appropriated to works of internal
improvements on the Eastern Shore;
Which was referred to the committee 011 Ways and Means.
Mr. Clarke presented a petition from James L. Martin,
Esq., and sixty-nine other citizens of Talbot county, praying
that an act may he passed, granting power to the Circuit
Court for Talbot county, setting as a Court of Equity, to pass
a decree for the sale of certain real estate owned by one Ste-
phen Pearce, free negro, late of said county, deceased, and to
distribute the proceeds of said sale to the respective friends
entitled thereto;
Which was referred to the Talbot county delegation,
Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, presented a memorial from
upwards of one hundred grain sellers and buyers of Balti-
more city, opposed to the adoption of the weighing system
for corn;
Which was referred to the committee on Agriculture.
Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore county, presented three petitions
from citizens of Baltimore county, praying the extension of
the law relative to swine in said county, and asking that the
same may be extended ten miles from the city of Baltimore;
Which was referred to the committee on Corporations.
Mr. Kilgour offered the following order :
Ordered, That the committee on Ways and Means enquire
into the expediency of directing the Treasurer to invest the
amount of money received from the United States for interest
and money received from the United States, per interest and
money advanced, during the war of 1812, in State securities,
and appropriating the annual interest of the same for the
benefit of the Common Free Schools of the State.
Which was adopted.
Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore county, offered the following
order :
Ordered, That had A. A. Lynch been in his seat at the
time the vote was taken upon the Green Spring Avenue, he
would have voted in the affirmative.
