SATURDAY, February 20, 1858.
The House met, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr.
Davenport.
Present at the call of the roll, the following members ;
Messrs. Berry, Speaker, Wickes, Meginnis, Tongue, Macku-
bin, Griffiss, Magruder, Allender, Ford, of Baltimore county,
Lynch, of Baltimore county, Clarke, Goldsborough, Waller,
Moore, Sudler, of Somerset, Tilghman, Dail, Richardson,
Davis, Ford, of Cecil, Kidd, Belt, Wyville, Contee,
Larrimore, Sudler, of Queen Anne's, Landing, Spence, Hearn,
Harding, Root, Koons, Hanway, Baker, Stirling, Rogers,
McPherson, Smith, of Baltimore city, Kennard, Lynch, of Bal-
timore city, Harrington, Crowley, Forrest, Alexander, Sum-
mers, Schnebly, Riddlemoser, Duvall, Worthington, Bar-
nard, Mountz, Reindollar and Dorsey.
The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. Allender offered the following order:
Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal of Proceed-
ings of this House that Mr. Allender, of Baltimore county,
voted in the affirmative, on the passage of the bill for the in-
corporation of the Green Spring Avenue Company, which
does not appear, and that the vote on the passage of said bill
should therefore be forty instead of thirty-nine, as re-
corded;
Which was adopted.
Mr. Allender presented a petition to build a bridge over
Little Gunpowder near James Tread well's mill;
Which was referred to the Baltimore and Harford county
delegations.
Mr, Allender presented a petition to build a bridge over
Little Gunpowder, at or near James Treadwell's mill;
Which was referred to the Baltimore and Harford county
delegations.
Mr. Tongue presented a petition from thirty-five of the
citizens of Anne Arundel county, praying for the increase of
witnesses' per diem in our courts;
Which was referred to Anne Arundel county delegation.
Mr. Root presented a petition from W. L. Hays and one
hundred and seven other citizens of Frederick county, pray-
ing the passage of an act to enlarge the jurisdiction of justices
of the peace;
Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.
Mr. Clarke presented a petition from G. W. Goldsborough
and ninety other citizens of Caroline county, asking an ap-
