The bill entitled, an act to release William O. Reeder, of
St. Mary's county, from a judgment in favor of the State of
Maryland confessed by him as security for Wm. Reeder, late
of said county, deceased;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act to Incorporate the Bel Air and
Hickory Turnpike Road Company in Harford county ;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act to authorise the Jefferson Division
No. 163, of the Sons of Temperance to erect an additional story
upon the Primary School House in Jefferson School District,
Frederick county ;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled an act authorising William G. Nicholson
Register of Wills, for Caroline county, to have rebound cer-
tain record books in his office;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act authorising Nicholas Norris, of
Frederick county, executor of Amos Norris, to execute a deed
to Israel Norris for a tract of land now held by bond of con-
veyance from said Amos Norris ;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
third reading.

The bill entitled, an act to empower the Fire Inspector,
commissioned by the Mayor of the city of Baltimore, under
an ordinance of the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore, to
issue summonses for the attendance of witnesses to testify before
him as to the origin and cause of fire occurring in the city of
Baltimore, and in case of refusal of witnesses to attend or
after attendance, refusing to testify, to authorise any Justice
of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in and for the city of
Baltimore, or any of the Judges of any of the Courts for the
city of Baltimore, upon application of the Fire Inspector, to
impose a fine upon such person so refusing, and authorizing
said Justice of the Peace, or Judge, to commit to prison until
fine and costs be paid,               

Being upon its second reading ;
Mr. Stirling proposed the following amendments :
Section 3, line 4, after the word "paid" insert "or for the
space of sixty days, which ever shall first happen."

Section 4, line 2, add "the Register for the use of the city;"
