44                  JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS          [Jan. 13,

Smith, of Baltimore city, Griffiss, Sudler, of Queen Anne's,
Ford, of Baltimore county, Burgess and Welling,

The Speaker laid before the House the report of S. R. Wa-
ters, Inspector of Warehouse No. 5;

Referred to committee on Inspections.                   

Also, the sixth report of James Higgins, A. M., M. D., State
Agricultural Chemist to the House of Delegates;

Which was referred to the committee on Agriculture.
Mr. Ford, of Cecil, offered the following order:

Ordered, That fifteen thousand copies of the report of the
State Chemist be printed for the use of this House;

Mr. Dail moved to strike out "fifteen thousand" and insert
"five thousand;"

Mr. Clark moved to amend by inserting "seventeen thou-
sand;"

Mr. Rogers moved to amend by inserting "20,000."
Mr. Koons moved to amend by inserting "2,000."
The question being on the printing of "20,000" copies;
It was determined in the affirmative.

Mr. Bowlus presented the petition of George Blessing, and
others, praying the passage of an act to amend the criminal ju-
risprudence of this State, so as to prevent delay, &c ;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Todd presented the petition of James T. Kenney, and sixty-
eight other citizens of Caroline and Dorchester counties, asking
for a law to allow Stephen Philips, a free negro, and his children
to hold real estate ;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Todd presented the petition of sundry citizens of Car-
oline county, to authorise Israel Collins, a free negro, to hold
and dispose of certain real estate ;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Todd presented a petition from sundry citizens of Caro-
line county for an act to allow Levin D. Collins and Horace
Thomas, free negroes, to hold real estate, and pass the title
thereof to his children ;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Todd presented the petition of sundry citizens of Caroline
and Dorchester counties, to authorize Stephen S. Prattiss and
Henry S. Prattiss, free negroes, of Caroline county, to pass the
title of their real estate to their children ;
