386              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 16,

TUESDAY, February 16th, 1858.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr
Davenport.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members:

Messrs. Berry, Speaker, Morgan, Neale, Wickes, Meginnis,
Tongue, Mackubin, Kilbourn, Griffiss, Magruder, Burgess,
Stonestreet, Walker, Ford, of Baltimore county, Lynch, of
Baltimore county, Smith, of Baltimore county, Golds-
borough, Waller, Moore, Sudler, of Somerset, Tilghman,
Dail, Richardson, Grieves, Davis, Ford, of Cecil, Kidd, Belt,
Wyville, Larrimore, Sudler, of Q. Anne's, Landing, Spence,
Hearn, Harding, Bowlus, Root, Koons, Hanway, Bacon, Baker,
McGonigal, Stirling, Rogers, McPherson, Smith, of Balti-
more city, Kennard, Lynch, of Baltimore city, Harrington,
Crowley, Forrest, Alexander, Rohrer, Gray, Schnebly,
Duvall, Worthing ton, McKinstry, Reindollar, Day and Wel-
ling.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

By the Senate,
February 13th, 1858.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message proposing to appoint a
joint committee of three members from the Senate, and three
from the House of Delegates, to examine into the condition
of the original papers and records of the late High Court of
Chancery, with a view to ascertain whether said records
should be completed, and concur therein. We have appoint-
ed on the part of the Senate, Messrs. Kimmel, Brooke and
Nuttle.

Secretary.
Which was read.

Also, returned the bill entitled, an act to incorporate the
Village of Leonardtown, in St. Mary's county;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays,'' with proposed
amendments.

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Insert after the word "commissioner," in the sixth line of
the 3d section the word "elect."

Strike out the word "penalty," in the fourth and seventh
lines of the 13th section.

Strike out the word "constables," in the third, eighth and
fourteenth lines of section 16.
