Mr. Dail from the committee on claims reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to refund to Thomas B. Billingsley,
late Sheriff of Calvert county, a certain sum of money;

Which was read the first time; also,

Reported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to lay out and
establish a new Election District in Dorchester county, to be
called Election District No. 12, or Williamsburg District;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Hanway, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to authorise the county Commission-
ers of Harford county, at their discretion to levy a sum of

money to build a bridge over Winters' run ;
Which was read the first time.

Mr. Burgess, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to define and limit the fees and com-
pensation of the Surveyor of Charles county ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Spence, from a select committee, reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act to change the present bridge across the
Pocomoke river, at the town of Snow Hill, in Worcester
county, to a pivot or draw bridge;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Thruston, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to increase the compensation of the
Crier of the Circuit Court for Allegany county ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Belt, from a special committee, reported a bill entitled,
an act to provide a summary mode of recovering the posses-
sion of lands and tenements, held by tenants for one year, for
a term of years, from year to year, for a less period, or at will,
after the expiration of their tenancy ;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the com-
mittee on Judiciary.

The bill entitled, an act to make funds in the hands of any
Trustee of a Court of Equity in this State, liable to attach-
ment in certain cases;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The bill entitled, an act to prevent slaves from gaining their
freedom in certain cases;
