The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the
day ;

On motion of Mr. Thruston,

The consideration of the order of the day was postponed
until 1 o'clock.

Mr. Barnard presented a petition from ninety citizens of
Allegany county, praying for the passage of a law to adjust
the unsettled western boundary line of Maryland ;

Which was referred to the special committee already ap-
pointed on that subject.

Mr. Meginnis presented a petition from Jonathan Hodgson,
praying for the passage of a law to shut up a certain road in
the third Election District of Kent county ;

Which was referred to the committee on Roads and High-
ways.

Mr. Thruston presented a petition from G. W. Dickerson
and twenty-eight others, citizens of Allegany county, praying
a speedy adjustment of the western boundary line of this
State;

Which was referred to the special committee already ap-
pointed on that subject.

Mr. Morgan presented a petition from G. W. Morgan and
twenty-two other citizens of St. Mary's county, to allow James
J. H. Thomas, a free colored man of St. Mary's county, to
dispose of his real and personal estate by deed or last will
and testament;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Root presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Frederick county, praying the passage of an act to enlarge
the jurisdiction of justices of the peace ;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Ford, of Cecil, presented a petition from E. W. Thomas,
John James, B. L. Thomas and seventy-seven other citizens
of North East, Cecil county, praying the Legislature to enact a
law authorising a majority of the voters of said village to
prohibit the sale of intoxicating liquors therein ;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. McGonigal presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Caroline county, asking for the passage of a law to allow
John Webb, free negro, to dispose of his real estate;

Which was referred to the committee on Colored Popula-
tion.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, presented a memorial from
