terly payments of two hundred and fifty dollars each, and at
that rate for so long a time as they may continue to use and
occupy the same; Provided, that nothing herein contained,
shall be construed to enlarge the rights and privileges now
and heretofore enjoyed by the said parties; and that the Le-
gislature reserves to itself the right to repeal, alter, or modify
the above resolutions at pleasure;

Mr. McKinstry, from the committee oh Agriculture, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to repeal an act
entitled, an act to provide for the appointment of State Agri-
cultural Chemist;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Dail Chairman of the committee on Claims, reported
favorably on a Senate bill entitled, an act to relieve Mathias
N. Lindsay, Sheriff of Worcester county, from the payment
of certain taxes in Chancery, and fines and forfeitures due the
State of Maryland in the year 1842, 1843 and 1844 ;

Mr. Grieves, from the committee on Colored Population, re-
ported on a bill entitled, an act to continue the States appro-
priation for the benefit of Colonization ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Mackubin from a select committee reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act to incorporate the "Chesapeake
Marine Railway Company of Annapolis ;"

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Kilgour, from a select committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to indemnify Joseph Sprigg, of Al-
legany county, for the loss of his negro man George, who
was murdered by a mob at Williamsport, on the 23rd day of
June 1853, through default of the civil authorities to preserve
the peace ;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Judiciary.

Mr. Burgess, from a special committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act for the relief of the sureties on the
official bond of Benjamin Marshall, former collector of taxes
in Charles county ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Hanway, from a special committee, reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to appoint an additional magistrate
in Election District No. 4, in Harford county ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Moore, from a select committee, reported favorably on
