Leave was granted to the committee on Judiciary, to intro-
duce a bill to authorise the summoning and empannelling a
a jury to try causes in eases where the parties are empowered
to agree in the appointment of a special judge.

On motion of Mr. Wickes,

Leave was granted to the Kent county delegation, to intro-
duce a bill to widen the public roads from Georgetown X
Roads to Georgetown, from Massey's X Roads, to Georgetown
X Roads, and from Chesterville to Georgetown X Roads, and
to straighten the road from Chesterville to Georgetown X
Roads, and make other improvements in Georgetown X
Roads.

Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, offered the following order:

Ordered, That the select committee to which was referred
the bill to regulate pilotage, with order to report in four
days, have leave to defer their report until Wednesday, the
17th February;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Ford, of Cecil, offered the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that the ab-
sence of Messrs. Kidd and Kennard from this House is caus-
ed by their duties as members of the committee on Peniten-
tiary:

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Rogers,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill to incorporate St. Anthony's Orphan Asylum
in the city of Baltimore.

On motion of Mr. Hobbs,

Leave was granted to the committee on Colored Population,
to introduce a bill making it obligatory on District and Coun-
ty officers to suppress negro night meetings, &c.

On motion of Mr. Thruston,

Leave was granted to the Allegany county delegation, to
bring in a bill to increase the per diem of the crier of the
Circuit Court for Allegany county.

On motion of Mr. Rohrer,

Leave was granted to the Washington county delegation, to
introduce a bill to authorise the trustees of the Methodist
Episcopal church in the town of Sharpsburg, Washington
county, to sell a certain lot of ground situated in said town.

On motion of Mr. Gray,
Leave was granted to the committee on Colored Popula-
