owned in the State of Maryland, under two hundred tons,
shall he exempt from the provisions of this hill, upon taking
out a license as provided for in the act to which this is a sup-
plement ;''

Mr. Contee proposed as a substitute for said amendment:

"In line 2, after the word "vessel," insert of more than
two hundred tons burthen ;''

Which was not assented to.

The question recurring upon the amendment offered by
Mr. Grieves;

It was assented to.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore county, proposed the following
amendment:

"In section 1, line 6, strike out all after the word "Pilot-
age," as far as the word "all," in the 10th line;

Pending the consideration thereof,

Mr. Goldsborough moved to re-commit said bill to a special
committee of five, to be appointed by the chair, and that said
committee report to the House within four days ;

Which was determined in the affirmative.

The House took up for consideration, the bill entitled, an
act to provide for and regulate the Registration of Births,
Marriages and Deaths in this State ;

Mr. Stirling moved to amend by striking out the 10th sec-
tion of the bill;

Which was assented to.                                             

Mr. Landing moved to strike out the enacting clause of
said bill;

The yeas and nays being demanded on the amendment,
appeared as follow:
