Mr. Walker, from a select committee, reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act for the relief of Elizabeth Rutledge and
her daughter, of Baltimore county;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stirling, offered the following order:

Ordered, That the bill entitled, an act to simplify and
amend the law of ejectment, be made the order of the day, on
Thursday next;

Which was adopted.

The Speaker announced the following as the special com-
mittee, to which was referred the leave granted a committee
of one from each county and the city of Baltimore, to intro-
duce a bill to lease the State's interest in the Chesapeake and
Ohio Canal; to the preferred bondholders of the same, to wit:

Messrs. Kilgour, of Allegany, Morgan, of St. Mary's,
Wickes, of Kent, Kilbourn, of Anne Arundel, Griffiss, of
Calvert, Burgess, of Charles, Lynch, of Baltimore county,
Goldsborough, of Talbot, Moore of Somerset, Dail, of Dor-
chester, Ford, of Cecil, Wyville, of Prince George's, Lar-
rimore, of Queen Anne's, Hearn, of Worcester, Root, of
Frederick, Baker, of Harford, Todd, of Caroline, Crowley, of
Baltimore city, Summers, of Washington, Worthington, of
Montgomery, Reindollar, of Carroll, and Dorsey, of Howard.

Mr. Mackubin, from a select committee, reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act to prohibit the sale of intoxicating
liquors in the city of Annapolis, to minors and people of
color;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Mackubin,

The rules were suspended, and

The said bill was put upon its second reading.

Mr. Mackubin proposed the following as an additional sec-
tion:

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That a copy of this act shall be
furnished by the clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel
county, to each person residing within the city of Annapolis,
and within five miles thereof, who shall receive a license un-
der the provisions of this bill, for which he shall receive fifty
cents; and the clerk shall, before he delivers any license to
the parties aforesaid, administer and endorse upon the said
license the following oath or affirmation:

I, A. B., do swear upon the Holy Evangely of Almighty
God, that I will faithfully comply with the provisions of this
act;

Which was assented to.
