270             JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS          [Feb. 6,

On motion of Mr. Hobbs,

Leave was granted to the committee on Judiciary, to intro-
duce a bill to enlarge the duties of the Commissioners of
Public Works;

On motion of Mr. Crowley,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill to Incorporate the Baltimore City Passenger
Railroad Company;

On motion of Mr. Harrington.

Leave was granted to the committee on Judiciary, to in-
troduce a bill to enable the persons therein named to convey
certain lands, not provided for otherwise by law:

On motion of Mr. Harrington,

Leave was granted to the committee on Judiciary, to in-
troduce a bill for an act relating the stock jobbing;

On motion of Mr. Walker,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore county delegation, to
report a bill to authorise the commissioners of Baltimore
county, to levy a certain sum of money for the benefit of
Elizabeth Rutledge and Levinia Rutledge;

Mr. Hobbs proposed the following resolution .

Resolved, That the rule of the House No. XLVII be alter-
ed and amended so as to read; "the House shall be resolved
into a standing committee of the whole on the condition of
the State, if so required by a majority of its members; which
committee may originate bills or resolutions. Bills on their
third reading and all other matters on their second reading,
shall if required by said majority of members, be committed
to a committee of the whole House:"

Which was read.

Mr. Mackubin moved a call of the House ;

Which was not sustained,

Mr. Harrington proposed the following resolution :

Resolved, That a joint committee of the two Houses of the
General Assembly, consisting of two members of the House
of Delegates, and one member of the Senate, be appointed for
the purpose of examining and destroying the bonds purchased
by the Treasurer for the use of the Sinking Fund, and also the
coupon certificates of interest which have been cancelled;

Which was read.

Mr. Magruder, from the committee on Judiciary, reported
favorably on a bill entitled, an act to amend and remedy de-
fects in an act passed January session, 1856, chapter 154, en-
