The rules were suspended, and the House took up for con-
sideration the bill entitled, an act to empower the Board of
Commissioners of Howard county, to allow supervisors and
laborers, working on the public roads in said county, a greater
compensation;
Said bill being upon its second reading.
On motion of Mr. Kilbourn,
Said bill was amended by adding to the first section thereof
the words following:
"Provided that this act shall not be construed to apply to
any person now holding the office of Supervisor in said county,
during his present term of office."
