The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

The bill entitled, an act to regulate the compensation of
Judges of the Orphans' Court for Baltimore city;

Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.                                 

On motion of Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city,

Said bill was reconsidered to its second reading;

Said bill being then upon its second reading;

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city, proposed the following amend-
ment :

In section 1, line 4, after the word receive, strike out "five
dollars," and insert "three dollars and fifty cents."

Mr. Grieves moved to amend by striking out "five dollars"
and inserting "four dollars" in lieu thereof;

Determined in the negative.

The question recurring on the motion to strike out "five
dollars," and insert "three dollars and fifty cents;"

The yeas and nays, were demanded, and appeared as fol-
