The proceedings of Saturday were read.

Mr. Alexander, presented a petition of J. W. Magruder,
and one hundred and thirty-six others, tax payers of Cumber-
land and vicinity protesting against the extension of the cor-
porate limits of said city;

Which was referred to the committee on Corporations.

Mr. Alexander, presented a petition of D. N. McCleary. and
67 other tax payers of Cumberland and vicinity protesting
against the extension of the corporate limits of said city.

Which was referred to the committee on Corporations.

Mr. Crowley, presented a petition of Chs. H. Pitts, to be
paid certain fees as Attorney in certain cases;

Which was referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Crowley, presented a petition of Oliver F. Hack, to be
paid certain fees as Attorney in certain cases;
Which was referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Thruston, presented a petition of one hundred and
twelve citizens of Allegany county, praying for the speedy
adjustment of the western boundary line of this State.

Which was read and referred to a special committee, con-
sisting of Messrs. Thruston, Alexander and Dail.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :

By the Senate,

January 25th, 1858.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We propose with the concurrence of your honorable body to
constitute the standing committees of the two Houses on the
Library a joint committee for the remainder of the present
session.

C. Harwood, Secretary.
Which was read.

On motion of Mr. Wickes,

The rules were suspended, and he presented the following
message:
