SATURDAY, January 23, 1858.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Graff.                                                                           

Present at the call of the roll, the following members:

Messrs. Berry, Speaker, Morgan, Wickes, Tongue, Mac-
kubin, Magruder, Burgess, Walker, Ford, of Baltimore
county, Lynch, of Baltimore co., Goldsborough, Waller,
Moore, Tilghman, Dail, Richardson, Grieves, Ford of Cecil,
Kidd, Belt, Wyville, Sudler, of Queen Anne's, Landing,
Spence, Hearn, Thomas, Root, Koons, Hobbs, Hanway,
Bacon, Baker, Todd, Stirling, Rogers, McPherson, Smith,
of Baltimore city, Kennard, Lynch, of Baltimore city, Har-
ington, Crowley, Alexander, Rohrer, Schnebly, Worthington,
Thruston, Barnard, Mountz, McKinstry and Reindollar.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Thomas, presented a petition from B. H. Simmons, J.
Criswell and others, Trustees of Primary School No. 69, in
Frederick county, for the passage of an act empowering them
to sell the school house now appurtenant to said school;

Which was referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. Rohrer, presented a petition of sundry citizens of Wash-
ington county, protesting against a change in the Inspection
laws ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Rohrer, presented a petition of sundry citizens of Fred-
erick county, protesting against a change in the Inspection
laws ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Goldsborough, presented a petition of sundry citizens
of Talbot county, praying for the appointment of an Inspec-
tor or Weigher of Grain, in the city of Baltimore;

Which was referred to the committee on Agriculture.

The Speaker laid before the House a communication
from the Baltimore city Board of Trade, protesting against
a change in the Inspection laws ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.
Mr. Mountz, offered the following order :

Ordered, that it be entered upon the Journal that Mr. Kil-
gour is prevented from attendance upon the House by indis-
position ;

Which was adopted.
