The House took up for consideration the preamble and re-
solutions presented by Mr. Grieves, of Dorchester, on Tues-
day the 12th of January.

On motion of Mr. Alexander,

The House resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole ;
Mr. Summers, of Washington county in the Chair.

After some time spent in Committee of the Whole; the
Speaker resumed the Chair, and

Mr. Summers, from the Committee of the Whole, reported
the Preamble and Resolutions back to the House favorably,
and recommended their adoption.
