Mr. Forrest, presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Baltimore, to change the present license system of the inspec-
tion laws, and restore the appointing power in the hands of
the Executive of the State ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Kennard, presented a memorial from the City Council
of Baltimore city, asking the passage of an act authorising a
new assessment of the real and personal property of said city;

Which was referred to the Baltimore city delegation.

Mr. Burgess, presented a petition of a portion of the grow-
ers of tobacco in Charles county, in relation to the inspection
of tobacco in the State Warehouses in Baltimore city ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Rogers, presented the memorial of John Johnson and
twenty-nine others, against any change in the Inspection
Laws of this State, in the matter of the appointment of In-
spectors ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.
On motion of Mr. Baker,

Leave was granted the Harford county delegation, to report
a bill to amend the public school system of said county.

On motion of Mr. Barnard,

Leave was granted the Allegany county delegation, to in-
troduce a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the town of
Westernport, in Allegany county.

On motion of Mr. Landing,

Leave was granted the Worcester county delegation, to
bring in a bill to establish free schools in Worcester county.

On motion of Mr. Spence,

Leave was granted the committee on Colored Population,
to introduce a bill to allow a free negro woman to remove
from the State of Virginia into the State of Maryland.

On motion of Mr. Burgess,

Leave was granted the Charles county delegation, to bring
in a bill to change the name of Jacob Morris, of Charles
county, to John Jacob Hanson.

On motion of Mr. Hanway,

Leave was granted the Harford county delegation, to bring
in a bill to authorise the trustees of the Bethel Presbyterian
church, in Harford county, to hold certain real estate in said
county, for the use of said church.
