On motion of Mr. Hobbs,
Said resignation was accepted.

The Speaker appointed Mr. Dail, of Dorchester county,
Chairman of the committee on Elections in place of Mr.
Rogers, resigned.

The Speaker laid before the House the memorial of the
Maryland State Agricultural Society, asking for aid in sup-
port of its Exhibitions;

Which was read and referred to the committee on Agricul-
ture.

Mr. Wyville, presented a petition of citizens of Prince
Georges' county, for the sale of Tobacco warehouse at Piscat-
away;

Which was referred to the Prince George's county dele-
gation.

Mr. Rogers, presented a petition from B. M. Rhodes & Co.,
praying the passage of a law for the Inspection of all manufac-
tured, prepared and mixed manures;

Which was referred to the committee on Agriculture.

Mr. Dail, presented a petition from Thomas W. Byus and
37 other citizens of Dorchester county, for an act to alter the
present mode of inspecting and measuring cord wood, in the
city of Baltimore, and the inspectors to be appointed by the
Executive;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Dail, presented a petition from Thomas B. Travers,
and 44 other citizens of Dorchester county, for an act to alter
the present mode of inspecting cord wood in the city of Balti-
more, and for the inspectors to be appointed by the Executive;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Larrimore, presented a petition from William J. Emo-
ry, of Queen Anne's county, asking for the payment of money
due his mother, a Revolutionary pensioner ;

Which was referred to the committee on Pensions.

Mr. Stonestreet, presented a petition for the incorporation
of the village of Port Tobacco, in Charles county;

Which was referred to the Charles county delegation.

Mr. Rogers, presented a memorial, of Mrs. Catherine S.
McKim, of the city of Baltimore, praying to be allowed a pen-
