An act to authorise the governor in certain cases to
arm the militia of this state.

SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the governor of this state be,
and he is hereby authorised, at his discretion, to arm
such portions of the militia of this state, who, from
their particular situation may be most exposed to in-
vasion or insurrection, any law to the contrary not-
withstanding.

CHAPTER 6.

A supplement to the act entitled, An act for the re-
lief of Joseph Ennalls, of Dorchester county.
WHEREAS, a law was passed at the November
session eighteen hundred and eleven, authorising the
said Joseph Ennalls to collect by execution, all fees
which had been put into his hands for collection on or
before the tenth day of June, in the year one thousand
eight hundred and ten, but no provision is made in
that law to authorise him, the said Ennalls, to collect
the taxes or county charges, (he being collector as
well as sheriff at the time of the transaction of the bu-
siness for which the said law was passed for his re-
lief): Therefore,

SEC. 1. BE IT ENACTED by the General As-
sembly of Maryland. That the said Joseph Ennalls be,
and he is hereby authorised and empowered to collect
until the first day of January, in the year one thousand
eight hundred and thirteen, all balances due him as
sheriff" and collector of Dorchester county, in the same
manner as he is authorised to collect fees by the act to

which this is a supplement: Provided nevertheless,
that it shall be the duty of the said Joseph Ennalls, be-
fore he proceeds to execute or distrain the property of
any person or persons for public dues in virtue of this
act, to deliver to such person or persons chargeable
with the same, at least thirty days previous to levying
such execution or distress, an account, written in
words at full length, of the public dues demanded of
him, her, or them, with an affidavit annexed, that he
hath not received any part thereof, nor any thing as
security or satisfaction for the same, more than the
credit given (if any), to the best of his knowledge.
