Mr. Ford moved to take up the General Appropriation
bills;

The General Appropriation bill entitled, an act making
appropriation for the support of the Government, for the
year ending on the first day of January, 1861;

Being upon its second reading,                                   

Mr. Morgan proposed the following amendments;

After the word "dollars," in the 16th line, under the head
of State Officers, insert:

"For the salary of the Chief Clerk, in each of the State
Tobacco Warehouses, the sum of three hundred dollars; for
the salary of the receiving clerks, two hundred dollars; for
the salary of the shipping clerks, two hundred dollars."

Mr. Mackubin proposed to strike out all after the word
"dollars," in 14th line, under the head of "For State Of-
ficers," to the word dollars, inclusive, and insert the fol-
lowing:

"To William Harwood, for services as State Librarian, in
1856 and 1857, eighteen hundred and fifty dollars, or so
much thereof as the Comptroller may ascertain to be due;"

The yeas and nays were ordered, and appeared as follow:
