A bill entitled, an act to create an additional election dis-
trict in Allegany county;
Which was read the first time, and referred to Allegany
county delegation.
The bill entitled, an act for the relief of Joseph Stewart,
late clerk of the Circuit court for Charles county, being upon
its second reading,
Mr. Burgess proposed the following amendment:
"Section 1. Line 5th, after the word 'required,' strike out
the remainder of the section, and insert the following: 'To
examine and audit the claims of Joseph Stewart, late clerk
of the Circuit court of Charles county, and if in the opinion
of the said board of county commissioners the said claims
are just and proper, they are hereby authorised to levy upon
the assessable property of said county a sum sufficient to pay
the same, which said amount shall be collected as other
taxes are now collected;' "
