86              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 17,

On motion of Mr. Briscoe,                               

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary, to in-
troduce a bill entitled, an act declaratory of the rights of the
owners of lands bounding on the navigable waters in this
State.

Mr. Legg offered the following:

Ordered, That William J. Emory, of Queen Anne's county,
have leave to withdraw from the files of this House, a petition
asking for the payment of money duo his mother, a revolu-
tionary pensioner, and that the same be referred to the com-
mittee on Pensions and Revolutionary claims ;

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Naill,

Leave was granted the committee on Corporations to intro-
duce, a bill to amend the charter of the Mutual Insurance
company, of Frederick county.

Mr. Harding offered the following:

Ordered, That the pages of this House, be allowed four
dollars per day each; that the police appointed by order of
the Speaker, be allowed three dollars per day each; and that
the porter and keeper of the private chamber, be allowed two
dollars per day each, and they be placed upon the journal, to
be paid as the members and officers of this House now are,
and that they be required to report themselves to the Chief
Clerk daily, for duty.

Mr. Linthicum, proposed to amend, by striking out "four
dollars," and inserting "three dollars ;"

Which was rejected.

Mr. Parran proposed to amend, by striking out "two,",
and inserting " three dollars," as the per diem of the keeper

of the private chamber ;                                                      '

Which was adopted.

The question then recurring upon the original order as
amended;

The yeas and nays were ordered and appeared as follow:
