84              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 17,

                                TUESDAY, January 17, 1860.

The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Thrush.                                 

Present at the call of the roll, the following members :

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Morgan, Rasin, Mod-
ders, Welch, Briscoe, Parian, Burgess, Ford, Worthington,
Quinlan, Jones, of Talbot, Chaplain, Dennis, of Somerset,
Long, Stanford, Lawson, Linthicum, Holland, Wilson, of
Cecil, Miller, Bryan, Jones, of Prince George's, Legg, Star-
key, Landing, Dennis, of Worcester, Kessler, Claggett, Rout-
zahn, Salmon, Naill, Wilson, of Harford, Bayless, McCoy,
Straughn, Krafft, Booze, Seth, Berry, Crowley, McAllister,
Smith, Turner, of Baltimore city, Coudy, Eakle, Brining,
Freaner, Griffith, Harding, Beall, Roop, Mills, Turner, of
Howard, and Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The Speaker laid before the House the report of the clerk
of the Circuit court of Washington county.

Mr. Ford presented a petition from Rebecca T. Neal, asking
the refunding of certain money therein expressed;

Referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Landing presented a petition from Captain Levi R.
Lamberson, and one hundred and five other citizens, praying
the passage of an act to authorise the county commissioners
of Worcester county to lay out and open a public road, and
locate a public wharf in said county;

Referred to the Worcester county delegation.

Mr. Jones, of Talbot, presented a memorial from William
Horney and others, for the protection of oysters;

Referred to the special committee already appointed.

Mr. Mackubin presented a petition from Margaret Ritchie
and Madison Gassaway, heirs of the late Henry Gassaway, a
lieutenant in the army of the revolution, asking for the re-
lief therein named;

Referred to the committee on Pensions.
