Mr. Quinlan presented a petition of Charles Perigoy and
88 other citizens of Baltimore county, in relation to the City
Passenger Railways.

Referred to the committee on Corporations.
On motion of Mr. Renshaw,

Leave was granted him to withdraw from the committee
on Pensions certain papers filed in the case of the application
of the heirs of Col. Edward Cockey for a pension.

Mr. Linthicum offered the following :

Ordered, That the chairman of the committee on Claims
be and he in hereby directed to issue certificates for the pay-
ment of such of the members and officers of the Legislature
who may be detained after the adjournment of the Legisla-
ture, in the examination of the engrossed bills, and the vouch-
ers in the offices of the Treasurer and Comptroller :

Which was adopted.

Mr. McAllister presented a petition from John Bunting,
asking for compensation for services rendered :

Which was referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Worthington presented the petition of John Stansbury
and other citizens of Baltimore county, relating to the colored
population ;

Which was referred to the committee on Colored Popula-
tion.

Also, the petition of sundry citizens of Baltimore county,
in relation to the passenger railroad in Baltimore city.

Mr. Briscoe, from the committee on Education, reported
unfavorably upon the Senate bill entitled, an act to amend
the 83rd article of the code of public general laws, relating
to schools, by adding thereto certain sections making an an-
nual appropriation for the encouragement of a school for the
education of those wishing to pursue the calling of the sailor.

Said report was laid on the table.

Mr. Medders. from a select committee, reported favorably
on the Senate bill entitled, an act to repeal the 114th section,
chapter 14, of the code of public local laws of Kent county,
title: justices of the peace and constables;

Mr. Gordon, from the committee on the Judiciary, report-
ed favorably on the bill entitled, an act to authorise and em-
power Mary Anna Biggs, a minor, of the State of Delaware,
