The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sages:

By the Senate,

                                                         January 12, 1860.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We propose to your honorable body, that a, joint committee
be appointed to visit and examine into the Maryland State
Lunatic Asylum,

We have appointed, on the part of the Senate, Messrs.
Lynch, Bradley and McKaig.

Secretary.

Mr. Harding proposed the following:

By the Home of Delegates.

January 16, 1860.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received the message of your honorable body,
proposing that a joint committee be appointed to visit and
examine into the condition of the Maryland State Lunatic
Asylum, and concur therein.

We have appointed Messrs. Harding, Wilson, of Harford,
and Mills, to join the committee named on the part of your
honorable body.
