70                JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 16,

Mr. Welch offered the following order:

Ordered, That the order adopted yesterday, appointing a
committee of two to wait on the Governor, and request him
to have the national flag raised upon the steeple of the State
House, each day during the session of either branch of the
Legislature, be and the same is hereby rescinded.

Which was lost.

On motion,
The House adjourned till Monday morning, at 12 o'clock.

MONDAY, January 16th, 1860.

The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Thrush.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Morgan, Rasin, Med-
ders, Mackubin, Parran, Compton, Burgess, Ford, Denison,
of Baltimore county, Quinlan, Jones of Talbot, Chaplain,
Dennis, of Somerset, Long, Stanford, Lawson, Linthicum,
Keene, Holland, Miller, Bryan, Wootton, Jones, of Prince
George's, Legg, Starkey, Jacobs, Landing, Dennis, of Wor-
cester, Johnson, Salmon, Naill, Bayless, Straughn, Krafft,
Booze, Berry, McAllister, Smith, Turner, of Baltimore city,
Coudy, Brining, Freaner, Griffith, Harding, Gordon, Mills.

The proceedings of Friday were read.

Mr. Ford presented a memorial, praying for relief as there-
in stated, against the President, Managers and company of
the Washington and Baltimore Turnpike Road.

Which was referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

The Speaker laid before the House the report of the Inspec-
tor of State Tobacco Warehouse No. 1.

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.
