The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. Krafft presented a memorial from William Alexander,
a member of the committee appointed at the session of 1858,
to examine the work of the codifiers in the recess, reporting
the number of days he was actually employed on said work,
and praying for additional compensation therefor;

Mr. Turner, of Howard, presented a petition from Jacob
Grove and others, against the passage of a law confining the
jurisdiction of magistrates in Howard county to their respec-
tive districts;
Also, a petition from Samuel Wethered, Jr., and ninety-
three others of Howard county, praying the passage of a law
to authorise the commissioners of said county to levy a sum
of money to build two school houses at Ellicott's Mills, in
said county;
Severally referred to the Howard county delegation.
Also, a petition from F. O. Gaither and others, praying the
incorporation of the Howard and Montgomery Turnpike com-
pany;
Referred to the Howard and Montgomery county delega-
tions.
Mr. Miller presented a petition from R. L. Thomas and
other citizens of Cecil county, against the passage of the bill
now before the Legislature, asking for a charter for a city pas-
senger railway known as the Brock bill;
Referred to the committee on Corporations.
Mr. Eakle presented a petition from S. P. Grove and
others, protesting against the passage of any law to autho-
rise the Sharpsburg and Boonsboro' Turnpike company to
move their toll gate within the distance of one mile of the
town of Sharpsburg;
Referred to the Washington county delegation.
