Mr. Claggett presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Frederick county, in relation to the Frederick and Harper's
Ferry turnpike road;

Referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. Turner, of Howard, presented a petition from Richard
A. Thompson and others, of Howard county, praying the
passage of a law for the protection of sheep in said county:

Referred to the Howard county delegation.

Mr. Booze presented a memorial from one hundred and
thirty merchants of the city of Baltimore, against the grain
inspection bill, now before this House;                             

Referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Salmon presented a petition from Jesse Wright, Abner
Denbliss, John Harding and thirteen others, members of the
Methodist Protestant church, asking the Legislature to pass
an act securing or making good the title to their property to
five trustees;

Referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. McCoy presented a petition from Baltimore and Har-
ford counties, against a tax on collectors;

Referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Naill presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Frederick county, praying the passage of an act to authorise
the construction of a turnpike road from Bearns's Mill, on
the Patapsco river in Carroll county, to Libertytown in Fred-
erick county;

Referred to the Frederick and Carroll county delegations.

Mr. Chaplain presented a petition from Charles Robinson
and other citizens of Talbot county, against the passage of
certain bills before the General Assembly, with reference to
to the colored population;

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Holland presented a petition from forty citizens of Dor-
chester county, praying the passage of a law to sell free ne-
groes to pay their debts;

Referred to the Dorchester county delegation.

Mr. Freaner presented a memorial from William Motter
and others, praying for the passage of a law, authorising the
commissioners of Washington county, to subscribe $300,000
to the Western Maryland Railroad company;

Referred to the Washington county delegation.
