On motion of Mr. Worthington,

The rules were suspended to enable him to present a peti-
tion from Lewis Leman, and five hundred other citizens of
Baltimore county, in favor of a three cent railroad fare in
Baltimore city;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.
On motion of Mr. Mackubin,

The rules were suspended, and the House took up for con-
sideration the bill entitled, an act appropriating a sum of
money to pay J. B. Ricketts, Elijah Wells, George W. Wil-
son, William Boulden, A. G. Gullett, William Evans, Wil-
liam K. Councell, John W. Heard, William F. Grammar,
Thomas J. Wilson, Morgan & King, E. F. Church, George W.
Jefferson, Edward J. Wainwright, Mittag & Sneary, E. S.
Walter & Co., William T. Rawlingson, Thomas E. Martin
& Co., Thomas H. Handy and Levin E. Straughn;

Said bill being upon its second reading;

Mr. Landing proposed the following amendment:

Strike out "$902 to the Worcester Shield;"

Which was rejected.

Mr. Burgess proposed the following amendment:

In sixth line, 1st section, strike out "$136 50," and insert
"$205;"

Which was rejected.

Mr. Lawson proposed the following amendment:

Strike out "$231 50, for Somerset county," and insert
"$500;"                                                                     

Which was lost.

Said was read the second time, and by special order the third
time, and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
